As we reach the halfway point of 2025, we are reflecting on a busy and rewarding six months at AGS. From exciting new projects to beach surveys, here is a look at what we have been up to:
Project Highlights
This year began with a strong focus on beach surveying across the South West and then onto Wales, alongside an abundance of topographical solar farm field surveys. As a result, our team has travelled hundreds of miles across the UK, delivering high-quality surveying services on projects including:
- WCMC and SWCM– Providing highly accurate topographical beach surveys to Wales Coastal Monitoring Centre (WCMC) and Southwest Coastal Monitoring.
Surveying the topography of these beaches is essential for monitoring and managing the dynamic nature of our coastline. In summary, our surveys provide accurate, up-to-date data on the shape, elevation, and features of the beach surface. We were lucky enough to have patches of great weather, with some harsher conditions at times, putting our skills to the test.
- Accurate Visual Representation (AVR’s)– We have completed a number of AVR’s across the country within the last few months. Spending time in and around the Pennines, Bath, and Coventry to name a few. AG Surveys is exceptionally proud of the photography provided to our clients.
- Topographical Surveys – An exciting project we ventured into was helping to improve a local, uneven, rugby pitch. Following a ground survey, we laid out a plan and assessed the required volume of soil to level it out. Subsequently, we decided where the pitches were best placed to help meet our clients’ needs.
- Solar Farms and BESS – Finally, we undertook several potential solar farm and BESS sites. This work allows the client to have a layout of their site, with the undulations, ultimately gaining a clear idea of where solar panels or battery storage units are best placed.
Each project brought new challenges and opportunities to innovate, adapt, and collaborate with our clients and partners, and we enjoyed them all!
Innovation & Development
Our technical capabilities continue to evolve. Over the past six months, we have expanded our use of drone mapping. Resulting in precise and efficient data for our clients. This data is then meticulously assessed by our mapping analyst, Alex Unsworth.
We sent two employees on an outdoor first aid course, as we did two years prior with Izzy Creed and Will Davis. This allows us to carry out safe practice at all times. Furthermore, we sent our newest employee, Henry Butterworth, on a quad biking course to ensure maximum safety on the beaches when using our own quad bikes.
Looking Ahead
With the second half of the year on its way, we are excited for what’s next. As always, our focus remains on delivering reliable, data-driven insights that support sustainable and informed decisions across the UK’s changing landscapes.
Thank you to our clients, partners, and team for making the first half of 2025 a success — onwards and upwards!
