Back from the borders, at last. We were asked to provide Lidar control (points, check areas) and meteorology data for the flight of HV powercables between Longtown near Carlisle and Tweedbank by our client Cyient. As there was NO leeway for the timing (helicopter booked for service), 4 of us left early on Monday, expecting a 2 day job. Unfortunately, the Scottish weather had different ideas and an extra day on site was needed for the flight. Lidar is still proving to be a popular dataset for height modelling of large areas and corridors, especially if the options of vegetation and ground are required.
