We have been back to a solar farm near Ashburton today. It’s been a while since we surveyed the fields and surrounding roads for Sunfarm in Oct 2013 in order to gain planning permission and design the layout of the solar park. However, turns out the company who built it (and used another surveyor in the process) didn’t stick to the design closely enough and a full as-built survey with sections was required by the planning authority to get it signed off. We found in the past that only a full ground based survey for these sites will get all the required data for a smooth design and build programme. Any missed gas marker stone in a dense hedge can spell a costly problem along the line, as many utilities aren’t sufficiently recorded in big private fields (to name just one of many issues we found along the lines).
