Sometimes projects do happen near to home, so we were pleasantly surprised to be asked by Robert Cole Civil Engineering to undertake a topographical survey needed for the installation of two wind turbines near Wickwar.

With the site around the corner from our office, this is a rarity and the survey of 2 miles of existing driveways, unused farm tracks and roads including the two turbine sites was undertaken with the usual efficiency and quick turnaround. The client then contacted us to ask for some drafting work to be undertaken, which ended up being a design upgrade to make sure that level changes and track curves were to tolerance to allow the extra-long delivery vehicles with turbine blades to use the construction road.

Once the details of the changes and works was agreed, we headed out again to set out all work areas, hard standings, turbine foundations and track upgrade areas.

Delivered:

  • Topographical survey showing the track corridor and compound areas
  • Design and verification of track and implementation of turbine compound designs
  • 3D CAD models and pdf copies for site use
  • Setting out of track changes, compound details and foundations
